Yorkshire
Yorcard
The Yorcard scheme brings together the bus and train operators in South and West Yorkshire to pilot the use of ITSO smartcards.
The project will enable a select number of passengers to travel by smartcard on bus and rail journeys in South Yorkshire. The pilot will operate along three key bus routes in Sheffield and on rail journeys between Sheffield and Doncaster.
The pilot will provide valuable information on the potential of smartcard systems to:
Increase the attractiveness of public transport
Speed up journey times
Reduce fraud
Improve administrative efficiency
The Yorcard project is unique in that it gives an opportunity to see smartcards on deregulated bus and rail services for commercial 'pay as you go' and concessionary tickets. Most current smartcard schemes are only available on bus networks and typically focus on concessionary travel.
ACT is providing the following products and services:
Managed hosting services and product support to Yorcard and S&B
Additional development and support services
Integration to the on bus Wayfarer ETM and depot systems
Integration to the on bus and rail platform S&B POST
ISAM commissioning services
