- Licenced Member
- A member of ITSO that is licenced to operate an ITSO scheme
- OID
- Operator Identity assigned to a Licenced Member
- Operator Group
- A grouping of service operators or service operator depots. A service operator or service operator depot may be listed in one or more Operator Groups
- Personaliser POST (also Perso Post)
- A POST provided specifically for the purposes of personalising cards and creating ITSO Shells and IPEs

- A Point of Service Terminal according to the ITSO Specification (e.g. turnstile / ticket machine)
- Shell Owner
- An operator that has registered with ITSO as the owner of the shell (typically the card owner)
- Product Owner
- An operator that has registered with ITSO as the owner of a ITSO product
- Shell retailer
- An operator that has registered with ITSO as having the ability to load a shell onto a card
- Product retailer
- An operator that has registered with ITSO as having the ability to load an ITSO product onto a card
