ITSO goes live in Nottinghamshire
The first ITSO live Freedom Card has been issued in Nottinghamshire. The scheme, run by Nottinghamshire County Council and using the ACT ITSO HOPS (AMS) managed service is one of a number of innovative transport projects in the UK focusing on ITSO interoperable smart card ticketing.
The Freedom Card scheme migrated to ITSO early last year, when ACT was selected to provide their Full HOPS (AMS) as a managed service. ITSO will allow greater flexibility of use and further opportunities for expansion into other transport modes (such as trams, trains), integrated ticketing, seamless travel and additional applications.
Over 140,000 card holders will be issued with the card in and around the Nottinghamshire area.
Mark Hudson, Head of Transport Services NottsCC: 'The effective partnership working with ACT has enabled us to migrate smoothly to the ITSO scheme and will enable further products and services to be added for the benefit of our users'
Gary Watts, Director ACT: ‘We are delighted that Nottinghamshire ITSO Freedom Card scheme is live in the market and now look forward to developing the project further. The migration to ITSO has been a real success; Nottinghamshire have a solid base on which to build on and the opportunities are numerous. With the roll out of live cards, users will begin to see the many benefits.'
