ACT systems enable ITSO go-live

Cheshire County Council’s ITSO transport ticketing scheme continues to reach new ITSO milestones using the technology provided by the Applied Card Technologies (ACT) Full HOPS (AMS) and integrated Cardholder Management System (CMS). December saw the first live deployment of ACT’s fully compliant HOPS (AMS) as part of Cheshire’s award-winning Travelcard ITSO ticketing solution. Vehicles from D&G Bus & Coach Ltd rolled out of their depot with ITSO-enabled Wayfarer TGX150 Electronic Ticketing Machines, incorporating live POST ISAMS commissioned and managed by the Cheshire CC HOPS (AMS).

D&G’s ticketing and Depot systems have been fully integrated with the Cheshire County Council ITSO HOPS (AMS) and ITSO-enabled Cardholder Management System (CMS) provided and managed by ACT. Uniquely, Cheshire’s live deployment includes low-cost card media alongside conventional card media and products, as part of a research contract they are undertaking for Department for Transport (DfT).

Helen Mitchell, Cheshire County Council's Travelcard Development Officer said: ‘This initial roll-out of Cheshire’s Travelcard ITSO project has gone very smoothly. Both the customers and the bus operator are delighted with the results and we expect to replicate this with the roll-out of the next operator, which is at an advanced stage of planning.’ ‘We have been delighted with the choice of ACT as our HOPS (AMS) and CMS provider. They have consistently delivered quality products and services on time and to budget, and the ACT HOPS integration with the Wayfarer ticketing and depot systems, together with the provision of fully configured ISAMS on time, was a well managed element of the successful roll out.’

Gary Watts, Director of ACT adds: ‘This deployment is a national milestone and another exciting one for the Cheshire County Council ITSO programme; I have been impressed by Cheshire’s determination not to rush things into the field before final integration testing was complete. Cheshire has developed a fully compliant, integrated end-to-end live ITSO architecture which, as can be seen with this roll-out success, is proven in practice and is now reaping rewards for both operator and cardholder alike’.
