Bolton MBC choose ACT for ITSO
Bolton Council has selected Applied Card Technologies Limited to deliver its ITSO back office through the provision of their fully certified Full HOPS (AMS) system integrated to Bolton ITSO card personalization equipment. Rollout of the ITSO service within the Bolton smartcard scheme is due over the next 4 months, with an initial citizen card holder estate of 50,000 cards.
In addition, what makes the project special is the fact that it is the first ever project to embrace ITSO within an existing multi-application citizen card programme. The existing card offers access to leisure and library services, with discounts on retailers, restaurants, attractions and a number of other service providers. Bolton Council can now offer ITSO transport on the same single smartcard, giving those who live and work in Bolton an easy, simple and secure way to travel in and around the region. Data held on the card will enable users to access the right level of benefits that they are personally entitled to and through the vision of ITSO; functionality is present to enable cross boundary travel.

The project was successfully delivered under very tight timetables and we are now issuing live citizen cards with ITSO transport on board.’
