The 08 card - Liverpool Capital of Culture 2008
The 08 card is the official Capital of Culture membership card, in celebration of the fact that Liverpool is 2008's European Capital of Culture. The smart card programme gives members great money-saving offers on entertainment and travel throughout 2008 and onwards.
The 08 card programme has been created and produced by Liverpool company Live'smart in partnership with the Liverpool Culture Company and Merseytravel. More than 500,000 08 card-holders are expected by the end of 2008, while an exclusive VIP card is also available.
Livesmart’s challenge was to introduce a smart card based project that would promote and benefit from Liverpool becoming European Capital of Culture 2008. All Merseyside resident’s are to be offered an official European Capital of Culture membership card that will grant them special privileges as the city gears up for 2008. The FREE 08 Card will entitle people to benefits including free travel, special offers on theatre tickets and free children’s entry to attractions.
The 08 card programme is powered and supported by ACT smart destination transaction systems and services (smartcards, terminals and web enabled back office solution) including support services such as help desks, system hosting and integration to the 08 consumer website. ACT also receives the daily transactions from participating attractions / businesses and transforms them into user-friendly back office management information for Livesmart and associated partners.
The smart 08 card is regularly updated with offers and competitions; card-holders will receive regular updates, including a monthly email, quarterly newsletter and regular SMS messages, about events in the city and special card-holder offers.
The 08 card is available online at www.08card.co.uk, at Merseytravel Travel Centres across the city and in Tourist Information Centres. In addition, the cards will soon be available at Libraries, Hospitals and Health Centres, One Stop Shops, Community Centres and Neighbourhood Centres.
